Some call El Porto the most consistent wave in Los Angeles' South Bay. Located in Northern Manhattan Beach, it encapsulates the surf from 38th Street up to 45th Street. It is known for its crowds but also its diversity, attracting surfers from all over the world. Before it was incorporated in 1980 as North Manhattan Beach, the El Porto neighborhood oozed with sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll. Pilots, rock stars and drug dealers outnumbered the Realtors, restaurants and yoga instructors you run into endlessly today. Talk about diversity!
